FARNHAM TN 2,

NORTH GREENFORD 5

FARNHAM slipped into the bottom two of the Combined Counties Premier League after losing heavily to North Greenford on Saturday.

It was 2-2 after an evenly-matched first half, but the visitors cruised through the second period and after regaining the lead on the hour mark, clinched victory with two late goals as Town chased the game.

Greenford got off to a dream start when, with less than three minutes gone, new signing Arash Abdollahi unleashed a powerful shot and although Town keeper Adrian Giles got a hand to the ball, he could not stop it finding the top corner.

Farnham responded well, using the pace of Matt Glass and Jack Dillon to unsettle the Blues’ defence.

On 26 minutes, Bailey Mulhall punched a free-kick only as far as Glass who headed the ball back past the keeper for the equaliser.

Four minutes later, Farnham had the lead as newcomer Marco Correia, adjudged just onside, drove a low shot across Mulhall and in off the inside of the upright.

But Town couldn’t hold the lead until half-time. Shortly before the break, skipper Dan Vincent floated a free-kick into the area and Leius Sinclair got in front of Giles to head home.

It looked like it could go either way at the start of the second half, but it was the Blues who made the crucial breakthrough on a counter-attack, Stuart Muldrew sending Nat Mensah clear to score.

Mulhall used his feet to deny Farnham after a swift breakaway of their own and the game remained in the balance until the 85th minute when substitute Jordan Ellis set up Mensah who finished clinically for his second goal.

Deep into stoppage time, and with the last kick of the game, Ellis scored himself to rub salt into Farnham’s wounds.
