TWO teams of three from Hart Swimming Club will attempt to swim 33.8 kilometres, the width of the English Channel, on Sunday, August 6.
Maya Farmer (age 12), Ben Walton (13), Sarah Hiley (16), Stephanie Roberts (16), Josh Montgomery (19) and Karen Roberts (22) will begin the Hart SC Channel Challenge Charity Swim at 7am at Hart Leisure Centre. ‘Everyone Active’ have donated the pool space for this charity event.
The teams aim to complete the challenge in eight to ten hours of continuous swimming, taking turns to swim 1km at a time, starting at the ‘cardboard cliffs of Dover’ and finishing in a ‘virtual’ France.
The money raised will go to two charities – Cancer Research UK and Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
