THE Farnham Town Junior Tennis Tournament, held in fine weather at Brightwell Tennis Club last Saturday, culminated in some excellent matches between local youngsters.

The boys’ U17 singles was won by Brightwell junior Oliver Mackie who played some controlled tennis to defeat Will George from Farnborough, 6-3, 6-2.

The U17 doubles saw a reverse result as George teamed up with Jamie Cox to defeat Mackie and Matteo Bartolomei 6-2, 6-1.

The girls’ event was won by Asia Gurung from Farnborough who defeated Brightwell’s Katie Newman 6-1, 6-2.

The boys’ U14 singles was a very close match with lots of long rallies, Ben Ellerington (Brightwell) eventually defeating clubmate and doubles partner Caleb Walker 6-4, 3-6, 10-6.

The boys’ U/11 singles was another all-Brightwell encounter, with Luca Cimino beating Lewis Redman 6-2, 6-3.

The U9 orange ball tournament was keenly contested. In the final, Oliver Anderson defeated Brightwell team-mate Alistair Goldsworth 7-6, 7-6 in a very tight, high-quality match.
