.A BIG team of supporters got into gear last weekend at Haslemere fitness studio CYC:D to support a UK children’s charity.

Local graduate Corinne Atlass-Hye, who is an apprentice for Child.org and hopes to work as a community fundraiser, was delighted when her appeal for supporters to do a 100km static cycle in aid of the charity attracted 18 fellow enthusiasts.

Thanks to the team effort, Corinne is now on track to raise three times more than her original target of £1,000.

“A lot of children in Ghana and Kenya have to cycle long distances to go to school – as much as 62 miles – so it seemed fitting for us to cycle that distance to help them,” she told The Herald.

“We managed to raise £3,600 and my target was £1,000, so we smashed it. It was an amazing effort. Everyone who took part lives in or near Haslemere.

“We got together at the end of March and had a few months to train in. Everyone was cheering each other on.

“Child.org is a charity I feel very passionate about, so getting so many people together means a lot to me and 100 per cent of the money we raised will go to the charity.

“CYC:D director Faye Walton and studio manager Naomi Lett kindly let us use the gym for six hours on Saturday, and Naomi stayed and helped us.”
