SURREY Police requested support from the National Police Air Support helicopter after concern was raised for the safety of a person at address in Haslemere.

Following the incident, a woman was treated in hospital for unrelated injuries in the early hours of January 6.

Residents reported “a very loud helicopter” hovering above over Weydown Road and Bunch Lane, close to the junction of Stoatley Rise and Bunch Lane, at 1.30am.

One resident said: “What was unusual was the very bright green non-flashing light under the helicopter, which was staying the the same place for at least five minutes.

“When it eventually moved, very slowly, and passed overhead, a bright red non-flashing light was also revealed. I wondered if it was using heat-sensing equipment to search for a missing person.”
