POLICE are investigating an armed robbery at Sainsbury’s Local in Headley Road, Grayshott.
It happened just after 10.45pm on Saturday, February 6.
Two men entered the store and threatened staff with what appeared to be a black handgun, demanding they hand over cash from the tills.
A quantity of cash was handed over by a staff member, no-one was injured.
Following the robbery the two men left the store on foot.
Three members of staff were working in the store, an 18-year-old man and two 24-year-old women. A customer, a 17-year-old man, was also in the store.
The first robberis described as: White, 5ft 7ins to 5ft 8in tall, of small skinny build and a tanned weathered skin. He was wearing a grey hooded top, faded dark blue jeans, black heavy duty work boots and a scarf over his face. He also wore two pairs of gloves, a black leather pair and bright yellow plastic gloves (like washing up gloves) over the top.
He had a croaky voice with local accent.
The second robber stood near the door and was wearing similar clothing.
Detective Sergeant Oliver Lage said: “This is a very unusual incident in a rural community. It has obviously left those who were inside the store very shocked but thankfully uninjured.
“We know there were some people in the area around the time of the robbery, we are keen to speak to these people to find out where the offenders went following the incident. We know they initially left on foot but did they get into a waiting car? Did you see a vehicle which may have been involved parked near the store before or after the incident, or any suspicious activity?
“This is a small community; we are appealing to anyone with any information which could help us identify the offenders to come forward.”
