SURREY Police have been recognised for its continued dedication to diversity, and ranked 13 places higher than last year, in the Workplace Equality Index (WEI) for 2018 published by the charity Stonewall.
The index is the definitive benchmarking tool for employers to measure their progress on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT+) inclusion in the workplace.
A total of 440 organisations across the country entered into the WEI and Surrey Police have been ranked number 163.
Deputy chief constable Gavin Stephens said: “This rank reflects both our absolute dedication to making Surrey Police a welcoming, supportive and inclusive organisation that is reflective of the communities we serve, and our commitment to keep improving.”
Surrey Police and Crime Commissioner David Munro said: “Last year was the first time Surrey Police had been included in the index, so I am delighted to see they have built on that success and improved their ranking.
“All of our officers and staff should take real pride in this accomplishment I am fully committed to supporting the force in maintaining its commitment to diversity and inclusion in the future.”
