THANKS to some emergency support by Hydestile Resident Animals co-owner Graham Cornick a rescued bunny will survive to Easter and beyond.
Named Cassius Clay, because it was found caked solid and unable to move, the baby rabbit was taken to the wildlife centre, where Mr Cornick had to break the dried clay off the tiny animal very carefully before it could feed and get warm again.
Mr Cornick is also nursing back to health two baby foxes – Mr Tom and Mr Jack – found abandoned in the graveyard of St Mary’s Church, in Chiddingfold.
Following an attack by four dogs that killed a deer last week on Llammas Lands in Godalming, Mr Cornick appealed to owners to keep their dogs under control.
“It was absolutely barbaric,” he said. “God forbid if children were in the vicinity of those dogs. They were in a frenzy.”
Police are investigating the incident at 9.15am last Monday, which occurred in a public open space popular with walkers. It was witnessed by several people, who claimed the dogs were let off their leads.
