A BIG push is being launched by Haslemere’s Haslewey community centre to flag up the banking facilities on offer at the new post office on site.
Centre manager Kerry Morren-Jeffs, said: “We were so delighted when with the help from the local community, Haslewey was given the green light to open a post office within the community centre.
“It is an absolute positive that with the crisis in Haslemere with most of the big name high street banks closing their doors, Haslewey can now add high street banking services to its café and activities listings.
“Many local businesses along Wey Hill are already enjoying these benefits – it’s taking them a lot less time to do their banking as we are within strolling distance.
Haslewey postmaster Stephen Moss, who also ran the original Lion Green branch located at the Co-Op for many years, told The Herald: “Lion Green Post Office in the Haslewey centre is filling the void that high street banks are leaving.
“Over the last few years we have lost Barclays, HSBC and recently Nat West from Haslemere.
“There is good news, the post office in Haslewey offers banking services for all these banks and others, all under one roof with the addition of free parking.”
The post office is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 6pm with weekend openings over the Christmas period.
