BACK by popular demand for its 73rd annual outing on Bank Holiday Monday was Brook village fete.
The traditional family fair, sponsored for the fifth consecutive year by King Edward’s Witley, was officially opened by Brook resident Lady Wilkinson.
Pupils and school staff from King Edward’s Witley provided financial support to publicise the fete, as well as manning stalls - including the busiest station of all, the barbecue.
There were a host of activities and games for children of all ages.
Fete highlights included a classic cars display, a dog show with prizes for the waggiest tail and best sausage catcher, fairground rides, a raffle and tombola.
Other attractions included stalls selling plants, hanging baskets, sweets, jewellery, crafts, ladies clothing, bags and scarves.
Inside Pirrie Hall, there was a huge selection of bric-a-brac for the bargain hunter, as well as many hundreds of second-hand books, children’s toys and games.
The popular Pimm’s Tent was supported by Barrow Hills School and Nursery and the tea tent served up home-made cakes.
Loyal showgoer Woking grandfather Stephen Child, brought his own children to the fete and had fond childhood memories of visits with his grandparents.
Organiser Louise Ashwell-Symes said: “Community spirit was the winner of the day at this year’s Brook Fete.
“There was a fantastic atmosphere and all the family could enjoy traditional fun and games.
“Thank you to our sponsors King Edward’s Witley, their pupils who helped manage stalls and the busy barbecue and to all the volunteers who made it possible.”
