AN impressive £3,551 was raised by Haslemere company Coomers Timber and Building Supplies for the Haslemere and District committee of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The builders’ merchant adopted Macmillan as its charity of the year in 2016 and raised the money at corporate events, including a charity golf day, in-store collections and by taking part in the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

“Macmillan Cancer Support offers a lifeline, not only by helping with the medical needs of those affected by cancer, but also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care,” Coomers marketing manager Jill Hammond said. “The Haslemere and District Committee was formed over 30 years ago and works tirelessly to raise funds locally.

“Thanks to the continued support of customers and staff, more than £21,000 has been raised for Coomers’ annual nominated charities since 2010.

“This year the award-winning family business with branches at Haslemere, Bordon and Oakhanger, is supporting Broadlands Group Riding for the Disabled, based in Medstead.
