A BUMPER harvest of more than £2,000 to support Haslemere Museum was raised at its annual plant sale on Saturday.
Some of the town’s best-stocked gardens provided unusual plants for the event, which offered a huge array of perennials, summer bedding, vegetables and herbs, mostly raised and nurtured by the museum’s green-fingered supporters.
Visitors began queuing from just after 10.30am in advance of the doors opening at 11am.
Once inside, shoppers were met by knowledgeable volunteers, who were happy to help by offering guidance on what to choose from the many stalls.
As well as plants, the event also had a selection of second-hand gardening books on sale and the tea room was kept busy serving up home-made cakes and sausage rolls.
Visitors also enjoyed a stroll around the gardens in the sunshine, picking up ideas where to plant their purchases.
Museum trustee Jane Clayton said: “I am delighted we have had our best results yet from the plant sale.
“It is such a team effort and would not happen without the tireless work of all the volunteers in the run-up and on the day.
“It is wonderful to be able to run this event each year to raise essential funds for the museum.
“The museum relies entirely on donations and fundraising and this staple event in the calendar is such fun to be involved with.”
