A MUCH-LOVED party shop in Haslemere is hoping for more customers through its doors after the Covid-19 lockdowns.

The Hokey Cokey Party Shop, in Wey Hill, was opened in 1988 and is celebrating its 34th anniversary.

Julie Magness, who set up the shop, said: “The past two years have been the toughest for us yet during all our years of trading.

“We know 34 years is not a milestone celebration, but we thought it would be lovely to celebrate and remind everyone in the community that we’re still here, despite the pandemic.

“We’re so grateful for the custom and support throughout lockdown from our customers – we were able to offer the service on a click-and-collect basis and offer delivery of balloons. Now we’re back in the shop, but it’s still very quiet. Please do come in and see us.

“Creating a friendly and fun atmosphere and listening to our customers’ needs is always at the heart of what we do. We love helping people to plan their celebrations and it’s so lovely to see people being able to do this again after a couple of miserable years in lockdown.

“While the shop and balloon sales are going okay, business has really dropped since Covid-19 as many people are choosing to order online. We really want to see everyone in person again.

“We’ve put safety measures in place, with new flooring and Perspex screens, and created more space in the shop for people to browse.”

The shop is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5.30pm.
