A woman has been disqualified from driving for 18 months after she was caught behind the wheel on the A286 Haslemere Road in Milford when more than twice the legal drink drive limit.

Nicola Jacob, 59, of Brook Avenue, Ascot, was to stand trial at Staines Magistrates Court on January 19 after denying the offence last July, but changed her plea to guilty on the day of her hearing.

The court heard on July 13, 2022, Jacob drove a blue Nissan Juke “after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in your breath, namely 78 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath exceeded the prescribed limit”.

The legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

She was disqualified from driving for 18 months, which can be reduced by 18 weeks on completion of a course, and ordered to pay £500 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Jacob was also told to pay out a £354 surcharge to fund victim services, and a £635 fine.
