FOR many years St Thomas’ Church has hosted weekly lunchtime concerts through the six weeks leading up to Easter.

Each concert begins at midday on Wednesdays in the church on Frensham Road, followed, for those who wish to stay, by a light lunch of soup and bread in the Centenary Rooms.

The concerts are in support of Christian Aid, so admission is free, but donations are requested for the charity, to which all proceeds are given.

The artistes are: February 21, Marjorie Carrington, oboe, Tony Lamb, piano; February 28, Music Scholars from King Edward School, Witley; March 6, Emmanuel Bach, violin, Jenny Stern, piano: March 13, In Accord Acapella Ladies’ Choir, March 20, Jane Faulkner, violin, Gary Peacock, piano; March 27, selection of choral and keyboard music from members of St Thomas’s Choirs. All are welcome.

There is also an unusual musical opportunity available on Saturday, February 24 at 10am in the church. Anyone who is interested may come and play the newly re-furbished organ themselves. Julian Cooper, the talented resident organist, will provide expert tuition and advice.

St Thomas’ popular Lent Midday Music concerts will return from Wednesday, February 28.
