A LISS man has been fined for his involvement in a collision near Farnham in February, which claimed the life of a Haslemere resident and “loving mother”.

Samantha Hutchison, 43, of Border End, died from her injuries when she was caught up in a collision on February 1 between a motorbike and a car on the A325 close to the junction with Binsted Road, at 5.25pm.

Paying tribute, her family said: “She was a loving mother to a seven-year-old boy.”

David Barnes, a 54 year-old man from Liss, who was driving the car, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, driving a vehicle that failed to stop after a road accident and driving a vehicle involved in a road accident and failing to report that accident.

Hampshire Police confirmed on May 5 it was dropping the charge of causing death by careless driving.

Barnes admitted to the other two charges when he appeared in Basingstoke Magistrates Court on May 23. He was fined £330, plus a victim surcharge of £33 and £85 costs.
