DUNSFOLD Park confirmed this week it is poised to submit plans for more than 1,000 new homes to help meet the 8,500 houses Waverley Borough Council has been told are needed over the next 15 years.
An earlier bid by the airfield owners to build an eco-settlement of 2,500 new homes was refused as "unsustainable" by the Secretary of State during an appeal in 2009, and Waverley excluded the site as a possible housing site in its core strategy for the next 15 years.
There have been repeated calls for the brownfield site to be included in the planning blueprint.
