THERE were celebrations all round for HSDC Alton sixth form students as the class of 2021 celebrated a great set of results this week.
Students achieved an overall pass rate of 99.7 per cent, with 77.8 per cent achieving high A*-B or equivalent grades, and 53.5 per cent of students achieving the highest A*-A or equivalent grades.
Despite the challenges of the past two years, with studies being disrupted because of the Covid-19 pandemic, many students have excelled and finished their courses with stellar results.
Dedication to her studies paid off for Issy Vickery, who achieved three A*s, an A and a D*.
Issy studied A-levels in geography, biology and psychology, the Extended Project Qualification and a BTEC in music performance (jazz).
She said: “I am so pleased with my results, I couldn’t be happier – all the hard work paid off!
“I have accepted my place at the University of Durham to study geography (human geography).
“Thank you to everyone at Alton who supported me along the way, it is much appreciated.”
Ellie Norfolk from HSDC Alton received two A*s and an A in psychology, PE and photography, which has left her with a very bright future ahead.
Ellie said: “I am extremely happy with my results which will enable me to study a degree in psychology at Royal Holloway University.
“Even though studying through a pandemic has been difficult, my teachers have always been supportive and have provided varied ways of learning.”
