A FORMER world champion badminton player turned ambassador for sport proved to be a truly motivational speaker at The Royal School’s 10th Outlook Careers Conference.

Gail Emms has won gold, silver and bronze medals. Now retired from professional competition, she works to inspire young people by sharing the hugely positive impact sport can have on life and well-being.

In her inspirational keynote speech to year ten, year 11 and sixth-form students at the biennial careers event last Friday, she spoke about the need for perseverance and having a positive mental attitude.

Alumnae from The Royal School, as well as invited friends of the school, returned to run workshops and give talks, aimed at inspiring pupils with thoughts and ideas for their future life.

The careers workshops included: law, police, fiction writing, space industry, engineering, investment banking, technology, primary education and the Royal Navy.

In the afternoon, Royal School students benefited from an interactive interview session.
