THE BUNTING is up, cake stands are coming out of the cupboard and the Pimm’s is on ice, all ready for a joyous four-day Jubilee weekend, celebrating our magnificent monarch Queen Elizabeth II’s unprecedented 70 years on the throne.

Street parties will take place across the area as neighbours, friends and families come together to toast the Queen’s happy and glorious reign – and a wealth of community events are also planned across the area between Thursday, June 2 and Sunday, June 5.

These range from Jubilee-themed village fetes and fayres, to ‘Big Lunches’ in Gostrey Meadow, Farnham, and The Shed in Bordon, a Let’s Get Creative event for children in Alton’s Public Gardens, Haslemere’s historic Charter Fair, and the return of Farnham’s Festival of Transport – to name a few.

In a special 16-page Queen’s Platinum Jubilee supplement inside this week’s Herald, we look ahead to a busy weekend of jubilant Jubilee celebrations – as well as looking back on Jubilees of years gone by, and the Queen’s coronation in 1952.

Pick up your copy for just £1 in shops across the area – and if you have any memories to share, or photos of your own Jubilee celebrations, please email your snaps with a few details to [email protected]
