‘Recycle, reuse and repair’ is the theme for Farnham’s Sustainability Festival on Sunday, June 11 at Gostrey Meadow.

The festival is organised by Farnham Community Farm in conjunction with Farnham Town Council. It will include live music and around 40 stalls from local organisations that aim to help and encourage people to make a difference when it comes to creating a healthier, greener and more sustainable way of life, be it through recycling and repairing, reducing waste, or engaging with like-minded people.

At one of Farnham Community Farm’s stalls, the theme will be ‘Make do and...’ where visitors will be able to look at examples of repaired textiles and receive advice on how to do their own. Over at the Farnham Repair Café’s stand, volunteers will be on hand to talk about the types of repairs they offer.

This year, the organisers will welcome the Wishanger Wild school, which inspires children with fun forest school activities, as well as Wild Seasons Foraging. They will run a few short foraging sessions and talk about the joys of sustainable foraging. For those who prefer not to forage, Farnham Community Farm will be selling plants (veg and flowers) grown by their members.

Councillor Alan Earwaker, Mayor of Farnham said: “The Sustainability Festival is for anybody who wants to pick up tips and information about some of the actions they can take that will make a difference to the environment. We are delighted to be collaborating with Farnham Community Farm and I am looking forward to visiting the Festival and meeting stallholders and visitors alike.”

Throughout the day, a team of experts will be at the Talks Tent ready to share their knowledge. For those seeking peace and quiet, some gentle exercise in the yoga zone is highly recommended.

As no festival would be complete without refreshments, there will be plenty to choose from when it comes to food and drink. Farnham Community Farm will host a tea, cake and beer stall as well as a vegan stall. The Woodland Pig Company will serve free-range saddleback hog roast and sausage baps.

Farnham’s Sustainability Festival is a friendly, lively and fun event. It is free to attend and will take place between 12pm and 5pm.
