A WILD and wonderful play area created at Grayshott School was enjoyed by the people who helped make it possible, on Tuesday.

The "Explorers' Garden" was the idea of parents Jane Hartley and Pat Kitchener, and has transformed a neglected piece of land next to one of the school's entrances. It features a carved dragon's head, balance beams and bird watching area – providing a great play area and also a unique teaching space.

Parents, teachers and pupils worked at weekends to clear the land and also recycled equipment from an old playground to re-use in the new one.

Head Paul Davies said: "We are thrilled with the Explorers' Garden. The children love playing in it and our teachers will be making good use of it as an alternative teaching area."
