THE FARNHAM Flower Festival is going online this year at www.badshotleaandhale.org over the weekend on June 27 to 28, with the theme of A Celebration of Summer Flowers.

Last year’s inaugural Farnham Flower Festival was held at St John’s Church, Hale, and another was planned there for this year – but lockdown intervened.

Undaunted, the parish of Badshot Lea and Hale, which organises the flower festival, decided to go online and has invited the whole community to get involved – schools, community groups, churches and other faith groups, businesses, artists, craftspeople, individuals, and even two local gin distilleries which use flowers in their gins.

Farnham Town Council is also submitting an entry to what promises to be a colourful and uplifting celebration.

Rev Lesley Crawley, rector of the parish, said: “The inaugural flower festival was such a success last year that we wanted to hold another one. Obviously we can’t get together in person this year so we have decided to go online.

“We will be displaying photographs and videos of wonderful displays and floral art and craft on our website over the weekend of June 27 to 28. There will be music too and we know it is going to be a lovely weekend of colour, reflecting the creative gifts of our community.”

It’s not too late to get involved.

If you would like to submit a picture or video of a floral display or a piece of floral art or craft, send it to the parish before the end of Monday, June 22.

Submit your entries to [email protected] and don’t forget to visit the website www.badshotleaandhale.org over the weekend of June 27 to 28.
