AN EXTRA helping of Haslemere Food Festival is on offer when the 14th annual blockbuster returns to Lion Green on Saturday.
Alongside the usual array of children’s entertainment, younger foodies will also have the chance to get stuck in themselves at group classes being run by The Natural Cook Company.
New for 2019 is also a commitment that the festival will be single-use plastic free, which means no plastic cups and cutlery nor polystyrene plates.
Visit Haslemere manager Heather Matthews said: “We have been working alongside Love Haslemere Hate Waste to ensure that all our stall holders get behind our commitment to no single-use plastic.
“We have had such a positive response so far that we are confident that we will have a waste and plastic free festival.”
Visitors can tuck into cheeses, olives, chutneys and preserves, pies, oils, meats, cakes, patisseries and award-winning ice creams.
They can down English still and sparkling wines, locally brewed beers and ales, cider and gin and pick up free samples across the festival.
Molly Moo Cow will be working her magic to keep junior festival goers amused and Haslemere Museum will be providing an interactive craft making stall.
Fairground rides and live music ensure the whole family will be entertained.
This year’s demonstrations include a gin tasting and distilling talk from West Street based Real English Drinks House.
Masterchef winner Dhruv Baker will be doing the final demonstration of the day with Tempus Charcuterie.
After winning in 2010, he worked in top UK restaurants, including Le Gavroche. He has also presented on Waitrose TV and published his first book Spice in 2014 in the same year opened his gastro pub The Jolly Gardeners.
