Membership of Alton Sports Centre is booming as residents aim to stick to their new year resolutions to burn off the extra pounds they put on over Christmas and get themselves in trim for summer.

Sales manager Freya Becker Davies said numbers had been boosted by Everyone Active’s “amazing” January offer of a £1 joining fee. To date 180 monthly and 40 annual memberships have been sold in January, meaning 220 new people are using the fitness facilities.

Freya added: “We have had a busy start to the new year and this is a fantastic offer for people who are looking to start out on their fitness journey or may have over-indulged during the Christmas period.

“We offer free gym support sessions for every member to book into and these are a great way to focus people on how to achieve their fitness goals in the most effective way.

“The centre has been really busy, with people joining on our platinum membership which includes the usage of our wonderful Chawton Park Spa. The offer will be running until the end of the month so there’s still plenty of time to take advantage and save some pennies.”
