FORMER Haslemere mayor Sahran Abeysundara has been honoured for his work in the community by being appointed a Knight of the Order of St George in a ceremony at Rochester Cathedral.

Knights and dames uphold the virtues of chivalry by actively promoting good causes.

Sahran (pictured) said: “I feel honoured and humbled and I pledge to carry on working for the community.”
