THE sacrifice of giving up an evening of their time by staff at a hair salon proved to be a real snip as they raised £2,000 for Haslemere Borders Junior Athletics Club, Haslemere Junior Football Club and Cancer Research’s Race For Life in just four hours.

A rainy woodland fairy-themed evening, to match the weather outside, was hosted by the Eden Hair and Beauty team at Junction Place, Haslemere.

Giving up their evening, staff snipped, coloured and blow-dried hair, waxed, manicured and massaged beauty clients in order to donate the proceeds to their chosen charities.

The salon was transformed with greenery and wood nymph stylists into a leafy woodland glen, topped off with some furry visitors, among them a fawn, guinea pigs and rabbits.

As well as a popular raffle and face painting, a successful gourmet barbecue courtesy of Bells Butcher’s sausages and freshly-baked rolls from the town’s Bread of Heaven Bakery added to the fundraising efforts.

Thanks also went to Blackdown Printers, Cook ready meals and generous clients for donations toward a scrumptious cake sale – all helping to raise a huge amount in such little time.

Angie Townsend, director of Eden Hair and Beauty, asked charities in the town to nominate themselves earlier this year to receive the proceeds of the next event.

She said of her 19th annual fundraiser: "We have always promoted our commitment to helping people look and feel fantastic on the outside so decided to get behind some organisations that inspire physical and mental well being through sport, especially for youngsters.

“As always, the ever-enthusiastic team were behind this and I am so proud of them for their hard work, dedicating their Friday evenings and our tremendously generous clients for their support and bookings.”
