CONCERNS about the amount of litter in our towns and countryside were the topic of the day when girls from St Ives School in Haslemere met South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt at his constituency office.

The girls have been learning about living in a democracy in their Learning for Life lessons and the rights that they have to express their views.

After researching facts to support their arguments they wrote suggestions for what actions they felt the Government should take.

A school spokesman said: “They were delighted to have the opportunity to discuss their ideas in person. Mr Hunt explained the steps he would take to bring their views to the attention of the Government.

“The girls were very encouraged that by following a democratic process, they had the opportunity to have their voices heard.”
