A GANG believed to have stolen valuable silver trophies worth more than £100,000 from three different golf clubs in Surrey have struck again, at Hindhead.

Silver and glass trophies were taken from the trophy cabinet at Hindhead Golf Club, on Wednesday evening last week.

It is understood that detectives investigating three raids in Farnham, Bagshot and Chertsey since the end of August had warned other clubs in the county that thieves were targeting trophies – some from very historic and well-known amateur competitions – in order to have them melted down.

But the thieves struck for a second time in south-west Surrey, this month, before they could be moved.
