A 68-year-old grandmother is to launch her new book Soft Courage, described as a true life fable, as told by Yannik the penguin, which will raise funds for penguin conservation.

It is the fourth book by Tess Burrows, from Hammer Vale, who writes inspirational adventure books based on her experiences in the extreme places of the world.

Her previous books are Cry From the Highest Mountain, which has a foreword by the Dalai Lama and an introduction by Joanna Lumley; Cold Hands Warm Heart about her treck to the South Pole, with a foreword by Sir Ranulph Fiennes; and Touch The Sky, about a Mount Kilimanjaro climb dragging a car tyre to the summit which contained peace messages from every nation on earth.

Soft Courage will be launched at Birdworld near Farnham, on Wednesday, October 12, with the birds at Penguin Beach at 5.15pm. The evening includes a talk about the work done at Birdworld with African penguins.
