GRAYSHOTT Football Club’s ‘Flames’ team beat off stiff competition to win Sport Haslemere’s 2018 Junior Sports Team of the Year Award, for an outstanding season last year.
Their successes included winning the Surrey Primary League U13 Cup, competing against teams a year older.
Team members were unable to attend the ceremony at Haslemere Hall when 11 awards in various categories were presented for outstanding achievements and services to sport.
Haslemere Sport committee member Adrian Blythe joined managing director of Grayshott Pottery, Glen Myers, to present the team with their trophy at a training session.
Grayshott Pottery has sponsored the successful squad for the last two seasons.
In the 2017/18 season, The Flames won Surrey Primary League U13 Division 1 League Title, playing up a year as only te team was U12.
The squad also gained Surrey Primary League U13 Junior Cup and got through to the quarter finals of U12 Surrey County Cup.
Players built on their successes in 2016/17, when they won Surrey Primary League Premier U11 title, Surrey Primary League U11 Senior Cup and Surrey Primary League U11 Premier Fair Play Cup.
The club has also benefited from a Sport Haslemere donation to fund mobile floodlights to help with winter training.
Club treasurer Carolyn Cracknell, said: “Grayshott Youth FC is a community club providing football for ages four to 16 and welcomes new members.
“The younger ones are strengthening and we have good solid teams. We have a new chairman Damian Martin, who also organised a fundraising Halloween Party this week.”
