GRAYSHOTT has joined the global war against plastic waste, thanks to a dedicated group of supporters, who have sewn more than 100 eco-friendly shopping bags so far and signed up to the worldwide campaign Morsbags to make many more.

GRAYSHOTT Bags was one of many village groups, clubs and societies taking stalls to promote themselves at The Fair in the Square on Saturday.

Continuing its bid to remind drivers that Grayshott is a 20mph zone, the parish council was busy handing out some of the 1,000 car stickers it had printed to help spread the word.

Parish council clerk Laura Musco, said there was bags of enthusiam from the public about supporting the lower speed limit.

She said: “A lot of people took them and one of the local playgroups was given one for the family of every child. Hopefully it will make a difference.

“The stickers are also available at the parish office, the post office, Pins ’n’ Needles and Grayshott Pottery.”

Determined to do their bit to make the village a plastic free shopping place, Grayshott Bags supporters were encouraging residents to use the colourful eco-friendly carriers they have created in their group sewing sessions from recycled fabric, to cut waste.
