A YOUNG boy from Haslemere is celebrating after raising more than £240 so far, in aid of a club which supports elderly folk of the town.

Harry Cooper, 10, from Marley Lane hiked over 10km around and through the Devil’s Punch Bowl, in Hindhead, in pouring rain, to raise money for The Orchard Club, based in Haslewey in Wey Hill. The group is close to his heart – Harry’s grandpa, Ray Hall was a former chairman of Age Concern North East for many years.

The Orchard Club helps those unable to drive by collecting them and taking them to Haslewey where they enjoy a hot meal and importantly, company and friendship.

Harry’s other fundraising efforts include hiking along Hadrian’s Wall last year, which raised £120 to help fund a coach for a summer trip to Worthing.

Harry’s mum’s donation page is still open to allow people more chance to help the good cause Log on to www.crowdfunding.just giving.com/nikki-cooper
