Haslemere Rotary Club has raised an impressive amount for charities in 2021-22.

Among the donations handed out was a £5,000 cheque which will go towards the work of the Talk to Me counselling service which operates from Haslewey.

A £5,000 cheque was also presented to Guildford Hospital Cancer Support Charity at the Fountain Centre.

The Ukraine Appeal received £12,000, with the money going to various front-line charities which are able to render urgent assistance to those suffering.

Rotary International – which supports worldwide disaster relief efforts through Rotarians globally – received £1,000.

Money has also been raised towards supplying renovated and new laptops for schoolchildren.

In the past two years £25,000 has been raised – the value of supplying 250 laptops.

In partnership with Disking Computers, the public donated old laptops which were renovated and given to children. In addition, grants were sought from charities to buy new Chromebooks.

Haslemere Rotary’s community work has recently involved helping with the Haslemere Jubilee procession and the Fringe Festival on Lion Green. Paul Mills is staying on as Haslemere Rotary president for 2022-23.
