Residents of Petersfield are being encouraged to volunteer to make an impact on their town.

In tribute to the King’s public service, The Big Help Out will encourage people to try volunteering and join the work being undertaken to support their local area.

The aim of The Big Help Out is to use volunteering to bring communities together and create a lasting volunteering legacy from the coronation weekend.

St Peter’s Church is holding a volunteering open morning on Monday from 10am to midday, when everyone can have a go at activities such as bell ringing, candle making and flower arranging, and find out more about the ways people can get involved at the church – whether that is through helping with social events or baking for the weekly community café Refresh, which will be serving coffee and cake and sharing some of its best recipes in its new cookbook.
