HASLEMERE Museum supporters served up more than £1,500 thanks to a ladies’ tennis tournament played at private courts in and around the town.

The challenge was held as part of the campaign, aiming to raise £1.5 million for the museum.

Around 56 players battled it out in the morning before enjoying a buffet lunch at the museum, followed by the finals at Haslemere Lawn Tennis Club, at the Recreational Ground.

A museum spokesman said: “The museum is extremely grateful to all the tennis players who supported this fundraising event.

“The final was hard fought and a very close result played on a glorious sunny day.”
