A YOUNG street dance student is on his way to the West End after being chosen to be in a top London hip-hop school.

Ollie Finch, from Liphook, who has been training with Haslemere dance school Streetnation since he was five, has been chosen to join the ZooNation Youth Company.

Karen Musco who runs Streetnation, based at the Wey Centre, in St Christopher’s Road, Haslemere, said: “We are immensely proud of Ollie’s achievements and are thrilled that he is taking passion and talent to the next level.

“We love to support and encourage any dancers who wish to take their passion for dance further.”

The 12-year-old Bohunt School pupil started travelling to London for some extra lessons with ZooNation, based in the East End, last year.

Since then he has been handpicked to join the ZooNation Youth Company (ZYC) which has performed at several London venues including Sadler’s Wells, the Southbank Centre and at the Royal Albert Hall.

Streetnation has been running for eight years in Haslemere and is in the process of expanding to allow more children to join. Weekly classes are held along with performances in shows, festivals, after school clubs and International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) exams.

At present classes are held on Tuesdays from 4pm and Saturdays from 9.30am for ages four up to 18.
