BEACON Hill residents have banded together to preserve an historic landmark.
They may have lost their village pub, The Woodcock, but thanks to their efforts the splendid weathercock on top has been saved and restored.
After planning permission was granted for the pub to be demolished and new homes built last year, next door neighbour John Spear asked the developer to keep the wind vane intact so that it could be saved for posterity.
"I didn't want it to leave the village and I kept on about it until I got it," he said.
