A GRAND total of 25 members of staff from Holy Cross Hospital were singled out for special recognition at a celebration of staff achievement.
Haslemere Mayor Melanie Odell presented the awards during the hospital’s annual prize-giving ceremony. During the last year, the recipients of the awards have successfully completed a course of training.
The subjects studied ranged widely and included a 12-week foundation course for health care assistants plus specialist topics such as neurological rehabilitation, health service management, information management, bookkeeping, customer service and electrical appliance testing.
Three nurses recruited earlier in the year from Romania were congratulated for obtaining recognition from the Nursing and Midwifery Council to practice as registered nurses in UK.
Holy Cross chief executive Christopher Hinton said: “We are committed to providing learning and development opportunities for our staff and I would like to congratulate everybody who has taken part in training during the last year.
“The commitment to learning can be found throughout the hospital and this has been demonstrated by a group of nine senior members of the team who delivered an essential service by freely giving up their time to prepare and deliver training to groups of staff.
“Healthcare services are under such pressure to deliver more with less, that it is now even more important for us to retain a thoroughly well-trained workforce.
“We will support any member of staff that wishes to extend their knowledge and skills.”
Speaking after the presentations Mrs Odell praised all the staff for maintaining the traditions of the Daughters of the Cross in providing excellent healthcare services in such a specialist field.
