MORE than £10,000 was raised for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, when golfers took to Hankley Golf Club’s course.
The grey clouds which marked much of the week were nowhere to be seen, and the 22 teams who took part enjoyed a sunny autumn morning.
The golfers were greeted with bacon rolls before a 9.30am shotgun start began the morning’s golf, which included nearest the pin and longest drive competitions.Securing first prize were winners Team GB with a score of 125.
The morning was rounded off with a two-course carvery lunch and a generously supported auction, which offered prizes including golf days, golfing memorabilia such as Justin Rose signed golf shoes, a fine wine collection and two tickets to Wales’ Rugby World Cup quarter-final.
The hospice’s fundraising manager Laura Moody said: “We would like to thank Hankley for their continued support, Roger Jude and Farnham’s Rotary Club and Inner Wheel for running a tombola and all the teams who took part.
“The £10,099 which the day raised will help us to care for those facing a terminal illness such as cancer, supporting them and their families through the toughest of times.”
