OLDER Person’s Day went with a 1940s swing at Haslewey community centre, with a singalong led by Lizzie Hales backed by staff members dressed as land girls.
Centre manager Kerry Morren-Jeffs said: “It was really well attended and there was a fantastic atmosphere.
“We were dancing and miming and had a great time.
“It’s amazing what you can do once you’ve got a wig on.”
Councillor David Beaman, Waverley Borough Council’s portfolio holder for health, wellbeing and culture, said: “We were delighted to support the celebration tea party.
“Haslewey Community Centre plays a major role in the local community, offering a superb service, particularly for our more vulnerable, elderly residents and this was a great way of marking an important day which is all about celebrating later life.
