HASLEMERE singer songwriter David O’Brien is hoping for a festive hit with Xmas Time, which he composed on the 7.35am train from Haslemere to Waterloo and released it on his ‘Charcoal Burners’ YouTube channel.

David said: “ I wrote it after a brief conversation on Platform 2 about Brexit, pensions and escape plans with Craig Slattery, who filmed our Charcoal Burners video in September.

“ I recorded it later that week – I wrote the arrangement and played and sang all the parts on this occasion.

“It’s rather late in the year for a Xmas single release but I thought it would make a good Xmas present for friends, fans and family.

“The snow scene with the moon is meant for calming and meditation on what can be quite a fractious day for many families.

“It’s just a simple sing along catchy tune and lyric there to celebrate family at Xmas time.”
