A DECISION to cap the budget of Surrey Police Authority at a cost of £1.2m and a loss of 50 frontline jobs was approved by Parliament last week.

The cap, which was described by police chiefs as extremely disappointing, will mean the authority is forced to return money to taxpayers and make police officers redundant.
