Volunteer first aiders, who meet here every Wednesday evening, taught him cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the recovery position, and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Mr Hampson was also given a tour of the building and viewed the various vehicles that are used when the volunteers provide first aid cover at local events.
Unit manager Luke Simmonds said: “It was a pleasure to have Richard visit us at the unit, he spent time chatting to the volunteers and thanked us all for the work we undertake in the community.
“We then had the opportunity to show Richard some basic, yet vital, first aid which could make the difference between a life lost and a life saved in an emergency.”
Mr Hampson said: “Visiting the Haslemere and Liphook St John Ambulance team was truly inspirational.
“It is humbling that these hard-working men and women give their own free time to provide us all with life saving medical cover. I cannot thank Luke and his team enough for the wonderful visit.
“If anyone would like to learn more about first aid or would like to learn more please do get in touch with them.
“You couldn’t hope to meet a nicer and more dedicated group of people.”
Haslemere and Liphook Adult Unit is looking for more people to join the group as volunteer first aiders. For more information, go to www.sja.org.uk or call 0870 010 4950.
