SURREY library users will benefit from a better free wi-fi connection thanks to funding from the Arts Council.

The £36,000 will help 13 county council libraries to upgrade their coverage to make it more reliable by next March.

Surrey Libraries secured the money to help people who are unable to access the internet at home get online.

Richard Walsh, Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Localities and Community Wellbeing, said: “It’s great we will be able to offer enhanced wi-fi in our libraries to help residents stay online and we’d like to thanks the Arts Council at a time when we are facing huge financial pressures and an unprecedented demand for our services.”

The libraries to benefit from increased wi-fi coverage are Ashford, Banstead, Caterham Valley, Dittons, Egham, Farnham, Guildford, Haslemere, Knaphill, New Haw, Walton, Weybridge and Woking.
