SERIOUS concerns have been raised by the planning inspector concerning Waverley's major core strategy blueprint to shape future planning until 2028.
Objectors have warned the key document could now be rejected as "unsound" and leave the borough wide open to speculative housing develpments.
An area of concern highlighted by the inspector was Waverley's omission of Dunsfold Park as a potential housing site to accommodate the 706 new homes per year that West Surrey Strategic Housing Market Assessment identified as needed in 2008.
Critics fear the core strategy will fail because Waverley has proposed building far fewer new homes - 230 a year - and rejected the airfield as an unsustainable location for a major residential development.
