PROTESTS by Grayswood residents hit by 30 power cuts over the last six weeks have been heeded by Southern Electric Power Distribution, which is investing more than £1m to make the village's electricity network more robust.
Grayswood Village Hall was packed when power company representatives unveiled a major works programme on Tuesday evening.
As well as a tree-cutting programme, new state-of-the-art overhead power lines will make local supplies more secure and less susceptible to power cuts caused by tree damage.
The scheme, which will start on April 14, is part of a wider programme, which will benefit 641 households, extending to Thursley Common, and includes the removal of nearly two miles of overhead power lines, pylons and wooden electricity poles.
