FARNHAM MP Jeremy Hunt has resisted calls to quit the Cabinet after emails released by the Murdoch family showed a link between his office and News Corporation.

The emails, mostly between Mr Hunt's key political adviser Adam Smith and a lobbyist working for former BSkyB and News International executive James Murdoch, relate to News Corp's failed takeover of satellite broadcaster BSkyB.

As Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport, Mr Hunt was poised to decide on whether News Corp could complete a full takeover of BSkyB when the News International phone hacking scandal forced the bid to collapse last July.
