AFTER a lapse of one year, the Haslemere Musical Society put on its customary ‘Come & Sing’ event in St Christopher’s Church last Saturday (February 5) despite modifications to the usual format because of Covid.

The first modification was that the society’s new chorus master, Ondrej Soukup, had to withdraw after testing positive for Covid. Director of music James Ross took his place. Quite a few singers had to withdraw at the last moment, which meant the choir was smaller than usual.

At the end of the afternoon an invited audience heard a spirited performance of choruses from Haydn’s The Creation.
