FORMER vicar of St Alban’s Church, Reverend Canon David Wilbraham, has been made an MBE for services to policing.

The Hindhead resident was named in the New Year’s Honours List, having served as Thames Valley Police’s force chaplain for 11 years until 2018.

He now works in a national role with Police Chaplaincy UK, and is responsible for National Police Memorial Day.

Mr Wilbraham said: “Policing, in one guise or another, has been my vocation and passion for over 40 years. I am humbled and thrilled to receive this recognition and award. Thank you to all, whose lives, over the years, have helped shape who I am.”
